Tanzania Sports Ministry Teaching Life Skills & More

Youth for Christ has found that sport is a universal language and a powerful way to reach young people. A teenage soccer team was officially started in June 2011.  Currently about 25 teenagers are registered as full-time soccer players, involving themselves in sport curriculums.

The sports ministry involves sharing of the word of God, encouraging young people, teaching social morals and life skills, and many more. They also start with prayers before and after the practice on the football pitch.

“Our hearts desire is to bring about change in the community for the future betterment of our nation whilst discipling these young people into local churches through sport,” says Pascal Nyulahe, the National Director for Tanzania. The teenage soccer team will also strive towards prowess in spiritual warfare, boldness in evangelism, passion in social involvement and godliness in leadership, thus reflecting an exemplary Christian life.

Additionally, Youth for Christ runs a youth club. It is a weekly mobile youth meeting whereby young people come together on every Tuesday for Bible studies, Discipleship and and many other youth activities.

Of course none of this takes place without prayer support.  Youth for Christ is thankful to God for helping us to mobilize young people to pray. A number of young people from different denominations are involved in Tanzania’s prayer program.
