About Youth for Christ Nepal
Nepal is known as the land of the Himalayas, Mt. Everest, the Yak and Yeti. She is a beautiful garden, like a nest for its 26.4 million people. There are 125 people groups living in this beautiful land and 123 dialects are spoken. Nepal is a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-cultural and multi-religious country.
According to the 2011 census, 40% of Nepal’s population were considered “youth.” This heralds a bright future because they are energetic, courageous, creative, teachable and self-confident. Youthful energy can bring about transformation in a nation, but Nepali youth are struggling with problems such as unemployment, poverty, alcohol and drug abuse, family problems, internet addiction and lack of skills training, followed by few entrepreneurial/innovation opportunities. HIV-AIDS is also a growing problem. These things are creating sad issues in the lives of young people, such as depression and other stress-induced problems.
Youth for Christ Nepal is dedicated to addressing these problems as much as possible as we seek to bring the life-transforming Good News to these young people. We know they can become SPARKS of TRANSFORMATION for their own people groups and communities, resulting in a better nation.
We want to see the same vision as John, on the island of Patmos, recorded in Revelation 7:9, “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.”
Youth for Christ Nepal is serving from one end of the nation to the other, with 36 staff and volunteers alongside local churches and likeminded organizations reaching hundreds of youth through various programs and methods.
