Young People Coming to the Lord in Botswana

by Koekoes van As, General Ministry Director, YfC Botswana

Exciting things are happening in Botswana.

Not all the excitement is the kind one would ask for.  Last July there was a fight among the children at the Drop-in Centre, so much so that ministry there came to a standstill. Some equipment was stolen in the chaos afterwards. And in September, an American missionary and all the foreign volunteers were in a car accident when somebody drove into the back of her car. It was damaged beyond repair.

Still, young people are coming to the Lord. The work gets done. Youth Alpha continues to grow and more people are learning about God. In Gaborone, a drop-in centre receives up to 88 children. In the schools up to 450 youth are being reached weekly. There is also a mentoring programme.

Six clubs at different venues across the village of Mochudi meet every day of the week except Fridays, providing games, songs and Bible stories for primary school childen. Once per term, Botswana Youth for Christ’s child evangelist, Naomi, and the volunteers get the children together for a Kids Club event. This month’s event was a Concert of Prayer. About 90 children attended.

Please continue to keep the ministry of Botswana Youth for Christ in your prayers.
