Samuel Rai grew up in a refugee camp for Bhutanese refugees in Nepal, which was difficult, but God was preparing him for future ministry. Samuel became a believer in 2007 and his family was allowed to relocate to Louisville, Kentucky in 2009 where he began working with refugees in partnership with multiple churches. Sam maintains this ministry focus to this day.
God has used many things to equip Sam for this role with Youth for Christ International, including being mentored by the co-founder of Refuge Louisville – an organization reaching refugee youth and their families – along with training at Boyce College and Southern Seminary. Sam has also served on staff with Greater Louisville YFC as Director of GLOCAL Ministry, and now serves with Atlanta’s Clarkston Int’l Bible Church as a mission coordinator. All of these experiences, along with many local church connections in Nepal, have uniquely prepared Sam for the YFCI role of US Liaison Associate for YFC Nepal.
Sam’s great desire is to see international students come to faith in Christ then take the Gospel back to their home country, or to be a witness for Christ among their people where they are in the US.
Sam’s responsibilities include:
- To provide consultative and training support to YFC Nepal ministries and leaders and helping to raise funds for Nepal ministry initiatives.
- To recruit, train and lead mission teams to Nepal.
- To develop and implement a strategy to promote the ministry of YFC Nepal in the USA including: producing online resources, recruiting others to represent YFC Nepal in churches, assembling a group of people to regularly pray for YFC Nepal development, and raise all funds required to cover expenses of the US Int’l Liaison for Nepal.
- To possibly assist with the ongoing effort of establishing YFC in Bhutan.
