YFC Germany Celebrates 70th Anniversary

In 2018, Germany celebrates 70 years of Youth for Christ ministry.

Markus Liebold, National Director of YFC Germany

1948 marks the beginning of Youth for Christ in Germany, a time where Germany consisted of bombed cities and desperate and hungry people living in barracks. Yet there is hope. Youth workers Willi Sauer and young Hans-Rudolf Wever started youth rallies in Wuppertal, western Germany and helped feed those who had a deeper hunger than for bread.

Later members of the American troops helped and donated an old Army tent. This was the seed capital for YFC in Germany, planted even before the Federal Republic of Germany or its Deutsch-Mark was even founded.

In  2018, YFC Germany celebrates 70 years of Youth for Christ ministry at the YFC Germany head office in Mühltal, surrounded by friends and supporters. The team gives thanks to God our father for His grace of having this ministry in a thriving country with peace and liberty to share the gospel.

The staff is committed to get close again to the youth of our time, a changing group that it’s so easy to get disconnected from. The title of youth worker does not prevent one from losing touch with this group.

Germany YFC wishes to also acknowledge how grateful they are to have young volunteers as part of the outreach team. Whether as part of the iThemba team, the Lifeliner outreach team, as volunteers with Project serve or ministering alongside us in drama ministry, volunteers are  precious assets.
