Jean Claude (C) with Northwestern chapter coordinator (L) and chapter board chairman (R) receiving a certificate to recognize his contribution in helping others study scripture
My name is Jean Claude Ishimwe. I’m currently a senior six student in high school. At a point in my life, I used to attend prayer meetings and even teach the scriptures. Unfortunately I didn’t have Christ as my foundation in what I did because I was of the impression that the things we do give us salvation and so spent a lot of time judging others who did not conform to my accepted standards. One day I moved to another school and the school that I joined had a Youth for Christ Bible study club. The Youth for Christ chapter coordinator for our region visited the club on a regular basis. Through these Bible studies I came to believe that salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
I first read the book of Romans and gained more knowledge on grace. After I finished reading it, I embarked on a journey to study the entire Bible. As some relatives noticed my transformation because of the scriptures, they requested that I meet with them to study the scriptures. I also started a program where we meet with other young people at my church and neighborhood to study the word of God.
