Dorothy’s Story

I have recognized that there is no limit to where God can take someone, even me.

A testimony from Dorothy Dushimiyimana, a student at Kigali Christian School

My name is Dorothy Dushimiyimana. I am the third born from a family of five children. I come from the Southern province of Rwanda. I currently study in grade nine at Kigali Christian School.

I was brought up in a Christian family. My father was a church pastor and mom too loved Jesus. My siblings and I were brought up in a God-loving environment. We used to help our father in several church activities. It is through helping my father with some church work that he introduced me to the Lord. I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior in 2018.

While I was in grade six, a couple of years ago, my father died. That was the worst moment in my life because I felt like my life and that of my family was going to stop. I wondered why people like my father who lived for God, His people, can die just like that. It was painful and heartbreaking. But as I continued my journey with God I started getting some answers to my questions. I learnt to confide in Him about my problems and questions.

After my father’s death I remained with my mom and siblings. In the midst of all the problems we had, most especially regarding finances, I wasn’t worried because I had increasingly learnt that God had a plan for us no matter what would happen.

During a YFC discipleship class at my former school I was chosen among a few young people to attend the YFC/RWANDA National Youth Convention in December, 2019. During the convention I met many wonderful people among whom was the YFCI Director. The Director enabled me to further my studies at Kigali Christian School, one of the best schools in the country. Actually, in my opinion, it is the best. This was above what I have ever dreamed of and something I will always remember. I have recognized that there is no limit to where God can take someone, even me.

I’m studying hard to become a medical doctor and by God’s grace I will reach my goal. God is with me.

I have seen God work through people. I thank Youth for Christ and Kigali Christian School. The school has helped me grow both spiritually and academically. I thank God for the great wonders he’s doing in my life.
