New Vocational Training in Lebanon

The Manara Youth Center in Lebanon has a new a vocational training program. The initiative was created in response to a need the staff noticed among some of the youth who attend the Manara Youth Center programs. Not everyone learns well in a classroom setting; some need to work with their hands.

With the help of two partner churches in the U.S., Youth for Christ raised funds to open up a carpentry shop just a few blocks from the Manara building. A group of five men from several churches from Oregon volunteered to teach some of the youth how to work with wood.

For the summer workshop program, there are four classes of 8 youth each between the ages of 12 and 18. Each morning they start with a devotional and then learn how to make their very own toolbox, fitted with a few tools inside gifted by supporting churches.
