Hope Revolution Mobilizes Youth to Serve Cambridge

Youth for Christ in Britain will be running an event called Hope Revolution in Cambridge from 22-28 October 2011.

Introduction

Camping out in churches and schools, young people will start each day with worship and teaching. In groups of 70 they will spread out across the city, digging gardens, painting community facilities, running youth cafes and outreach events, making Jesus known wherever they go.

Base Camp

Impington Village College have invited Youth for Christ to use the school as the hub of Hope Revolution: Cambridge 2011. All delegates and team leaders will sleep on classroom floors during the week. Delegates will meet for worship in the snazzy auditorium, breakfast in the cafeteria, and the sixth form centre will host an after hours cafe each night! It’s a brilliant multi-purpose venue that suits Youth for Christ down to the ground, and the school has been keen to support Youth for Christ in any way they can!

Landmark Ahoy!

The next ONE event will be a significant landmark in the run up to October’s mission. Mike Pilavachi and band from Soul Survivor will give a sneak preview of the excitement to come. Not only that, but during afternoon, some of Cambridge’s young people will be volunteering on a pilot social action project in partnership with churches and local council staff in East Cambridge. The next ONE event will be Saturday, May 7th at City Church starting at 7pm.

Fifteen and Counting

There are currently 15 confirmed projects in and around the city, as churches begin planning creative ways to reveal God’s love this autumn. It’s amazing to imagine hundreds of volunteers working simultaneously to transform the city!
