Grieving a Loss in Rwanda

A group of women in Rwanda who are HIV positive, widows and very poor, known as “The Blessed Ones” was the first group Youth for Christ recruited and started working with in 2008. They became very close and precious to the staff, as well as international visitors of the ministry in Rwanda. Not only have the staff in Rwanda loved The Blessed Ones, but they have also appreciated the transformation they got to see in their lives.

Sadly, one of these dear ladies succumbed to the killer disease on June 8 and was buried a day later. National Director, Jean Baptiste Mugarura, went with four YFC staff, and preached at her send off service in her village which is about 40 minutes from Kigali city. Naasimu Bernadette Mukamana was taking care of two children. Her family, and indeed the whole family of Youth for Christ in Rwanda is grieving, but rejoicing also because her life was transformed the moment she gave her life to Christ. From prostitution and Islam, she became a fervent believer and servant of the Lord. She is now home.
