Canadian Ice Hockey Team Ministers to Czech Orphans

from Simon & Hannah Marriott

Much is happening at Youth for Christ’s Immanuel Conference Centre in Czech Republic these days.

Most recently, an ice hockey team from Canada visited and spent time ministering in the town and at the orphanage. During their breaks in a few games against local teams, various team members shared their personal stories about how they came to know Jesus.

The ice hockey team also participated in the English school and helped with some orphan work. At the end of the week, Camp Immanuel opened their English cafe for the first time to teenagers in the local area.

Another addition to the Youth for Christ ministry in the Czech Republic which the Canadian hockey team helped launch is an English service called FUSION, which will take place once a month. The idea is to invite people who have attended the English school over the last few years, as well as others who can speak English.

The Hand of Hope organisation is starting to come together and is slated to run its first camp in March. A team made up from four nations (Czech Republic, Northern Ireland, Canada and the U.S.) will run the camp.

Youth for Christ appreciates your prayers for this camp as the team seeks to bless these young people and to see them come to know Jesus. Attending young people will have a fun-filled and inspirational week including dramatised Bible stories, personal testimonies, outdoor activities, music, skill based learning and a few other treats that they rarely (if ever) get elsewhere.
