Bright New Future for Youth in Burundi

by Freddy Tuyizere, National Director of Youth for Christ in Burundi

The beginning of a bright new future for the youth of Burundi has arrived! After three weeks of working, Gitega International Academy had its opening ceremony on September 29. Those who attended the ceremony were able to witness the progress, pride and potential of the school. The students put on a skit and performed a worship song for all of their parents and guests. Everyone at Youth for Christ and Gitega International Academy are very proud of the students and their dedication to furthering their education.

We welcomed Pastor Bob and Mrs. Lynn Lawrence, and their son Newman along with his wife Trish (USA). Newman and Trish began serving in Uganda six months ago. We were privileged to have the Lawrence family come to visit and pray for the ministry. May Lord be with them in their ministry. We are grateful to our volunteers David Surridge (England), who was here serving for one month, and Nathaniel Penninger (USA) who was serving for four months. We enjoyed the time they spent with us, serving at Gitega International Academy and Homes of Hope. We pray that Lord rewards them greatly.

Children at Gitega Homes of Hope and Gitega International Academy have been suffering from illness these last weeks, but we are thankful that they are recovering now.

Please continue to pray with us for the health and wellness of the children along with the ministry and our nation.

The preschool children from Cibitoke Homes of Hope are walking long distances to reach the school. Now that the rainy season has started, walking such a long distance can be difficult, as it rains most mornings. We praise the Lord as the construction of the primary school and clinic at Cibitoke is moving forward. We pray for favor, wisdom, and finances to continue construction on these projects.
