8TH GRADUATION AT GITEGA INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Nelson Mandela Youth for Christ Burundi recently held the eighth graduation ceremony at Gitega International Academy, marking another milestone in their mission to bring young people to Christ through education. As a ministry, YFC Burundi is committed to moving forward with this mission, and the students’ achievements continue to be a source of immense pride.
Graduates not only excel academically but also stand out as leaders with a strong foundation in Christian values. This accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the students, teachers, and staff.
NATIONAL CONTEST FOR FUTURE HOPE SCHOOL
Students in grade nine (9) at Future Hope School recently sat for the National Contest, a critical examination that determines their eligibility to choose their preferred section in the second cycle of high school. This exam not only paves the way for their academic future but also serves as a key indicator of the school’s overall performance.
GITEGA INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY: AN INTERNATIONAL TESTING CENTER
Gitega International Academy (GIA) is thrilled to announce that they have been accredited as an International Examination Center! This accreditation is a significant advantage for the students, as it allows them to take crucial exams locally without the added expense and inconvenience of travelling to neighboring countries. Passing these exams at GIA opens doors to universities for students. This victory is a testament to the united efforts for the success of the school.

TREASURE HUNT AT CUREPIPE BOTANICAL GARDEN
A treasure hunt at the Curepipe Botanical Garden on 10 February was a day full of joy and team spirit. The event featured a warm and friendly atmosphere as participants formed teams to uncover clues leading to the hidden treasure. This outdoor activity encouraged the young people to work together and stay focused on a shared goal. Following the hunt, Monique Palan shared a message from the Word of God, highlighting the importance of spiritual treasures.
REBECCA MOCKLA RECEIVES HER YOUNG CATALYST CERTIFICATE
A one-year online training program for the Africa YCDP (Young Catalyst Development Programme) has provided a young Mauritian, Rebecca Mockla, with valuable exposure to church and youth ministry. She successfully completed this intensive course and earned her certificate. With this training, Rebecca now contributes to YFC’s prayer ministry.
OUTING AT BRAS D’EAU
Over fifty (50) young people took part in a 7km hike at Bras d’Eau in the eastern part of Mauritius on 9 April. Starting at the National Park (Exhibition Hall), the hike took them through the steep, volcanic rock paths of Bras d’Eau to Poste Lafayette beach. Sharing the Word of God, Monique Palan focused on self-discipline.

GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY – LUKENYA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
YFC Kenya had the incredible honor of holding the groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming new school, made possible through the remarkable partnership between them and Villages of Life. This school represents a significant step forward in the mission to transform the lives of young people through quality education and the Gospel, paving the way for brighter futures in the community. More updates will be shared as the construction progresses. The school will be in Lukenya, Athi River.
DIMBA NA YESU FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT
The football tournament in Kibera, dubbed Dimba na Yesu, was more than just a game; it was a turning point for the Kibera community. Sixteen (16) teams battled it out on the pitch over two weekends, with Upper Laren FC emerging victorious. As the tournament progressed and the excitement of the matches grew, something incredible happened: Three thousand (3,000) people had the opportunity to hear the Gospel. By the end of the event, seven (7) new members were added to the Kibera chapter, each inspired by the camaraderie and spirit of the day. In addition to welcoming new members, the tournament also served as a platform to connect with students for the upcoming enrollment of the second cohort of Digital Skills Training. The most profound impact of the football tournament was on the staff and volunteers present, who grew in confidence and boldness in sharing the Gospel. The tournament not only brought people together but also strengthened their resolve and faith, empowering them to reach out and make a difference in the community of Kibera.
SUPERWOMAN TRAINING
Kenya YFC hosted the East Africa training in Nairobi from 27th – 29th June 2024. Superwoman, a global movement dedicated to empowering young women to find their self-worth, discover their talents, and experience God’s love, was at the heart of this event. YFC ladies from Burundi, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Canada, Kenya, Congo (DRC), and South Sudan attended the training. The participants were equipped to run weekly clubs for teenage girls and to create safe spaces for girls in need of guidance and support.
