From 4 July – 6 July, 2016, over 90 young people attended YFC Ireland’s Nomad Soccer Camp, hosted by Mullingar Presbyterian Church over three days. Six adult leaders and 10 junior leaders facilitated various games and soccer-related activities, along with a World Cup-style tournament for both morning (ages 5-8) and afternoon (ages 9-12) sessions each day.
Staff leaders Simon, Gary and Liam provided a 5-minute talk each day, linking the witness of well-known Christian soccer players to how Jesus can be more real and relevant in campers’ lives. The campers’ enthusiasm and excitement for this new venture, coupled with parents’ positive feedback, has encouraged the team in Ireland to consider running soccer camps in other parts of Ireland in future.
