Youth for Christ Serbia had the wonderful opportunity to give out shoe boxes from “Samaritan’s Purse” for Operation Christmas Child.

Approximately 300 children from newborn to 12 years old were selected to receive the shoe boxes – so many, in fact, that the distribution had to take place during two separate events.

A local Baptist Church hosted the events. The first event was for younger kids; the afternoon event included the older kids. The anticipation was palpable, as the children were very excited about the gifts in the shoe boxes.

In addition to providing the children with gifts at Christmas time, the staff talked to the children about the true meaning of Christmas. Where many of the participants came only with a knowledge of Santa Claus, they and their parents left having heard about the good news of Jesus.  Although the program was not very long, it highlighted Jesus’ birth and what that means for humanity.
