Ministry Update: Angola

Graciano Viliengue, National Director, YFC Angola

Youth for Christ Angola operates in four cities in the Southern part of the country, engaging young people with the Gospel and love of Jesus in diverse ways(photos below):

  • Bie: Volunteers at secondary school and a class during schools ministry. 50 young people accepted Jesus.
  • Huambo: Prayer meeting led by prayer coordinator, Inacio
  • Lubango: Solidarity Action, a social activity – staff walked on the streets and found young people who needed clothes or food. Shared with them, demonstrating the love of Jesus.
  • Namibe: Children in a primary school play with staff at a program there

There are pioneering efforts currently underway into another city, Benguela, as Youth for Christ looks to grow in the future.

Additional activities included a breakfast meeting with some former volunteers who for personal reasons can no longer give their time. Staff also engaged influential Pastors, talking about Global Day of Prayer and future partnerships and how to develop sports ministry among the churches.

Youth for Christ uses rented premises for their offices, which proves to be expensive. However, a 2014 application to government for the construction of a new National Office has now been approved and the team looks forward to starting the work once the local administration provides specifics with the location.
