Jose Carlos Gutierrez

Jose Carlos Gutierrez is one of Youth for Christ’s most promising young leaders.  He took on the leadership of Youth for Christ in Mexico in January of 2008. In the short time Jose has served as National Director, he has proven to be an excellent, visionary leader, a strong communicator, and a lover of people.

In addition to their national office in Monterrey, Youth for Christ in Mexico has already established 2 satellite ministry sites in the states of Guanajuato and Tamaulipas. Jose has an aggressive goal to establish Youth for Christ ministry in all 31 states and is currently pursuing pioneering opportunities in Baja California, Sonora, and Veracruz.

Even though the task at hand in Mexico is substantial, Youth for Christ has already coordinated two mission trips in their first year – one to Cuba, and the other to Marbella, Spain. They blessed numerous churches and helped reach many young people with evangelistic activities and a building project.

Jose has a colleague, Pancho Gomez, who is a former professional soccer player and helps lead a vibrant soccer outreach to over 400 youth, 90% of whom come from high-risk neighborhoods; 30% are gang members. This sports program provides a wonderful opportunity to minister to these young people, their families and surrounding neighborhoods.

Youth for Christ recently held a staff and volunteer retreat with about 50 participants in Mexico. They are hosting a 3 day conference for high school students in July on the subject of abstinence and sex education, and a 3 day camping retreat in August focusing on evangelism and team-building. They plan to have 75-150 young people for the August camping trip and are raising money to sponsor many of them.

Jose requests our prayers, volunteers for mission projects, and financial support to grow this burgeoning national program in our neighboring country of Mexico. His vision, passion, and compassion for youth is contagious and worthy of our support.
