“Join the party, it’s already started” is the theme of the 2014 summer camps in Lebanon. For over two months now, volunteers and staff have been working on the planning of camp week and innovating ideas to convey to the students that the party with Jesus has already started here and now. Among the many preparations, advertising for camp has also started on Facebook and through posters in schools.
However, this year, a new “advertising strategy” was added to the menu: Marc Melki, the worship leader along with four young students (George, Boulos, Joshua, and John) decided to go around the country to visit schools, where they would play a series of songs that Marc wrote for this event.
On the morning of Monday, May 19th, the YFC worship band packed up their instruments and launched their second band tour this year. As the students came into their assembly hall, a short video was playing in the background with last year’s camp pictures and it ended with the posters of this year’s camp. Then, the thirty-minute concert started. Throughout their various songs, the band reminded the students about their God-shaped hole that only Jesus could fill and they also invited them to come and ‘join the party, because it’s already started!’.
All of the students welcomed the band with lots of joyful cheering and were excited to look at the pictures and hear about the camp. A lot of the students came up to the band and staff afterwards asking for more details.
We are praying that many will come and join ‘His party’ this summer and that it will not only be a time of fun but it will be a time where students will hear Him whisper in their ears, “’Come’, come to my eternal party, And let the one who hears say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.” (Revelation 22:17b)
Please join us in praying for the Youth for Chris summer camp in Lebanon.
