CANADIAN TEAM

Youth for Christ in Sierra Leone recently receive a seven member team from Millar College of the Bible, Canada. These young men were involved in community and door-to-door evangelistic outreaches, soccer evangelism, leadership training in the peninsular, slums in Freetown and Port Loko township.

The team used street drama at the Tree Planting area in Freetown. This event had 250 young people in attendance with 36 making a commitment to follow Christ as Lord and Savior.

They were also involved in soccer evangelism both in Freetown and Port Loko. This event gave them the opportunity to play soccer with deprived boys; at the same time, the students ministered to, counselled and encouraged them.

Another major activity this team was able to accomplish was the painting of the outside of the Freetown Youth Center building at Garrison Street.

Thank God for the seed they have planted and pray that God will cause growth to take place in these lives.

CITIZENSHIP AWARENESS

With November 2012 being the slated time for presidential, parliamentary and local council elections, Youth for Christ was involved in raising awareness and sharing with 104 young people from different schools and communities on ‘Becoming a responsible Electorate’.

This event was attended by our Canadian friends who shared their political experiences and encouragement especially as it relates to the role of young people during and after elections.

STREET KIDS

Ministry with the street kids is growing. Youth for Christ staff there are seeing growth in the area of commitment. To address the social needs of these young people, a beach outing was organized for them at the Atlantic beach, Lumley.

They had the opportunity there to play soccer, swim and meet in small groups for discussions.

How rewarding it was to see this event put smiles on their faces.

KENEMA STATE PRISON

Youth for Christ was able to work with an average of 34 prisoners during its first club meetings. Thirteen prayed to receive Christ.

FAMILY MINISTRY

Youth for Christ in Sierra Leone is celebrating the recent opportunity they had to minister to young people and their parents at an evening session where they watched the movie ‘Courageous’.

The event had a tremendous impact on the lives of parents who attended. Parents were challenged about how much responsibility they should take when it comes to their respective families.
