Kidstop Calitzdorp Preparing to Move

They know how God loves them and sent His son to die for them.

Julianna Overmeyer, Youth for Christ South Africa

“Without Kidstop, I would be lost! What will happen if the building is sold?”

Jason overheard someone in the community discussing the potential sale of the property Kidstop rents. He knows that there is no other building available for rent in Calitzdorp. The answer to Jason’s question is, “We are trusting God for the solution!”

Four years ago we met Jason on the street. He explained that his grandmother would not let him sleep inside because he didn’t give her enough of his profits from begging on the street (so that she could buy alcohol). Jason was a regular at Kidstop. He was grateful for every meal we fed, and always had a big smile on his face. Sucked into the culture of the other school drop-outs, he was begging on the street, stealing fruit from the orchards and vineyards, progressively getting into more trouble. Finally the justice system had no choice but to put him into a juvenile detention center. Even after he served his time, they decided he was better off to stay until he turned 18 rather than send him home to the dysfunction of his family. Often speaking with Kidstop staff on the phone, Jason encouraged his friends back home to straighten up and follow the Lord.

Due to the repercussions of Covid, Jason was sent back to Calitzdorp and he hasn’t missed a day of Kidstop since we reopened. He stays afterward and comes to the Pregnancy Centre to help with gardening. On the weekends you can find him at the houses of the staff. He is using every coping mechanism he can to flee from the influences of the enemy.

You are having an impact on the youth in Calitzdorp! They know how God loves them and sent His son to die for them. Jason is watching to see God provide the answer. You are making a difference!

Yes, the property has a cash buyer. But, the owners would prefer to sell it to Youth for Christ Calitzdorp for $30,000, if we can come up with the money first. Collectively you can continue to bring hope to these youth with an extra end-of-the-year gift. Prayerfully consider how you can participate in securing a property for Kidstop and give online (click here to use fund #411, South Africa)!

“Not that I am looking for a gift, but I am looking for what may be credited to your account.”Philippians 4:17

UPDATE: The property has been sold to someone else. However, Youth for Christ South Africa is looking into other options and has until the end of 2020 to move. Donations made through the link above will be used toward securing a property when the right one becomes available.
