Gavin Calver, National Director

As we continue to work hard we are still very aware of the economic state of the nation but are praying that God will protect and continue to bless the ministry. He is being very good to us in a number of areas including…

Conference…
In the first week of January all 350+ full-time staff and volunteers that serve at YFC gathered in North Wales. We had an amazing time of fellowship, envisioning and teaching as we prepared for the year ahead. It’s incredible to hear some of what the Lord is doing in and through YFC and we are humbled to be involved in such an amazing ministry.

New appointment…
At the end of January, we said goodbye our Operations Director at YFC. The challenge has been the interim time but we are thrilled to say that his position has now been filled: Kathryn Delderfield (previous director of Ashby YFC and more recently the staff development worker for National) has just started which has blessed Gavin no end.

New Centres…
Last year it was very exciting to launch Kingsbridge YFC, Shifnal & Albrighton YFC, Tunbridge Wells YFC, Calderdale YFC, Quinton YFC and Darlington YFC. Just last week Gavin launched the first new Centre of this year, Severn Valley YFC, alongside the Mayor at Kidderminster Town Hall.

God is moving all over the nation and it is so encouraging to see new centres setting up with the sole purpose of reaching young people with the good news of Jesus. We really see the 66 centres as being at the heart of what we do at YFC, as they work with local churches to relevantly affect local communities all over Britain.

It has also been a great delight to speak recently at the 25th birthday of Burton YFC and 5th birthday of Shrewsbury YFC. Soon Gavin is speaking at the 60th birthday of Swindon YFC and later in the year the 30th birthday of Trafford YFC.

As we launch new works we dream of them reaching such anniversaries, too, and reaching young people across the churches for many years to come. In the next few months we are also hoping to launch new Centres in Croydon, Crawley, Amersham and Salford.
