Last week it was reported by the UN that at least 150,000 people in Mozambique have been displaced by the floods, and more than 40 have lost their lives. The numbers were expected to increase.
Homes have been destroyed, many have lost all their possessions and are currently sleeping on the streets. Many have developed diseases from the dirty water, and at least two women were forced to give birth on rooftops where they had climbed as the water rose.
The government is giving dry rations of rice and maize.
Youth for Christ in Mozambique have asked for donations to purchase oil, beans, sugar, salt, soap, tooth brushes, tooth paste, clothing and cooking utensils to distribute to affected people.
