The Great Commission: Making Disciples of All Nations

Youth for Christ is training leaders to serve and share the life-saving message of Jesus in some of the most dangerous areas of the world, and we are expanding our global reach to include China’s 20 million Muslims, eight million of which live in the province of Xinjiang, China.

Xinjiang Province shares borders with India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Russia and Mongolia; some that have been hotbeds of terrorist activity for the Taliban and al Qaeda, along with other fundamentalist groups that have taken advantage of the autonomous region where Muslim youth can be manipulated and radicalized.

This is just one reason why it’s imperative that we utilize the assets we have and share the Gospel of Jesus with China’s 20 million Muslims.

Right now, Youth for Christ is training workers in what we call three-story evangelism, a ministry tool we use to reach young people in a one-on-one relational manner as an alternative to large-scale evangelistic rallies that would be opposed and suppressed by the Chinese government. Our workers will then be able to train indigenous leaders in the sharing of the Gospel—this is an essential part of building capacity to reach many more young people.

You are likely aware that the vast majority of Christian mission work in China is focused in areas where Christian churches are already established, and where Christians are living and working. But according to God’s Great Commission, we are also called to branch out and reach every nation—this includes taking the Gospel to where few, if any, missionaries have gone, and where Christian churches seldom exist.

This region of the world is in desperate need of being reached by the Gospel and the saving grace of Jesus; and this effort will take both traditional and non-traditional methods.

We will be able to reach these indigenous people by mobilizing pastors from registered and unregistered churches along with other ministry partners, who live and work in China and are interested in joining with us to share the Gospel with those who have not yet been reached.

Prayerfully consider the desperate need to reach China’s 20 million Muslims. The goal is to initiate a movement and send believers out into the mission field among these predominantly Muslim areas of China, and take hold of this opportunity to share the Gospel and bring new believers to Jesus.

With your support, these goals can be achieved and foster an exponentially growing movement. We are already reaching young people throughout Asia in a variety of ways, and empowering them to change the world.

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:18-20

Youth for Christ’s current work in Asia to reach into China:

  • Training church leaders from mainland China on a monthly basis in evangelism. The aim is for the pastors to take back the training with them, and train others to apply what they have learned.
  • An amazing Internet ministry, which is accessible from the mainland.
  • Sending in workers on a regular basis to teach English as an opportunity for ministry.

Although we have successful and growing ministries throughout Asia, we cannot continue to ignore the Islamic region of China, which is why we must allocate resources to this region, and  equip and send out workers to these underserved areas of the globe. So far, we have raised enough money to support one person, but we need to do so much more. In order to be more effective, we need sufficient resources.

The masses of people who live in these regions are not being reached and witnessed to. So far, we only have one full-time person in the mission field, and we need additional financial resources in order to send out and support other local people that are ready to go. These local missionaries are indigenous to the region, part of the same people group, making it easy for them live and communicate in this area.

Our ministry runs on a minimal budget, and our staff members, driven by a passion for sharing the Gospel, require few resources because they are local.  This also enables them to survive without many of the comforts that you and I take for granted.

This area has a history of conflict, violence, repression and inaccessibility. It is one of the least-targeted areas of the world. But because of our indigenous roots, we have the opportunity to represent Jesus in the area and allow His kingdom to grow.

Youth for Christ continues to expand its ministry into regions of the world where very few, if any, Christians are at the moment, and this includes this area of China.

Our model is simple—share the message of Jesus with the world through the energy, passion and creativity of young people—and change it for the better. Create young leaders and they create other young leaders and so on – exponentially.

Due to the extremely difficult challenges faced in this area it is clear to Youth for Christ that there is an urgency to reach these youth and bring them to Jesus.

The one thing that sets Youth for Christ apart is the fact that we already have people on the ground in China, working among the locals, because they are locals. Our staff are indigenous to these areas, and this means that they understand how to best respond to the needs of this region and its people.

Christians in China often suffer persecution, but this isn’t dampening the passion of Chinese Christians who have their hearts set on sharing the Gospel to reach the men, women and youth who live in these dangerous regions in China, and to bring new believers to Jesus.

Don’t forget that it is through your financial support and prayers that this indigenous ministry is funded and God’s message of salvation is shared. Because our people are already there, your gifts fund their minimal living expenses as they work to share the Gospel with all of God’s children.
