A New Library, Training Centre, and Home of Hope for Burundi

From Freddy Tuyizere, National Director of Youth for Christ in Burundi

  • Future Hope School: We can now thank God and celebrate that there is a library. Christelle and Laetitia from France have been helping set this up. The books are primarily in English for various subjects and general knowledge. There are books for all ages as well. We also look at expanding this in future. We are looking for more donations, especially for the secondary school.
  • The Vocation Training Centre: The centre now has a roof! We thank God for the small milestones being made, taking one day at a time, solely relying on Him. There has also been much progress in the process of acquiring the title deed for the land. The centre is located on Avenue du Large in Bujumbura.
  • Homes of Hope Gitega: The 7th house, better known as Noa’s house is moving on . . . the walls are up! The house was named after the daughter of Youth for Christ’s first overseas volunteer to Burundi. This house also takes the new model redesign by Gabe Chou, an architect who is part of the 10 Engineering Missions International engineers, who designed the Gitega centre.

News in brief

A foundation for a fence has been laid around the school property in Cibitoke. It will help secure the land from ‘land-grabbers’.

Volunteers have a new home! Another house has been rented in Bujumbura to help accommodate increasing number of volunteers coming to minister to young people in Burundi.

Secondary School: Builders without Borders have begun collecting and buying construction materials and the shipping to Burundi takes three months. Please pray for safety of the cargo, customs clearance and the builders themselves as they prepare to come this July to work on the Secondary School.

Operation Hannah and Watchmen (prayer ministries) are having a couples retreat on April 6th.
