Skiing, Camping & Youth Programs Draw Young People, Parents to Church

from National Director Timea Halasz

During the first week of February, Youth for Christ in Hungary was able to take 32 young people skiing. The staff found that the trip away gave them good relationship building opportunities. This was the third year that Youth for Christ volunteers in Hungary organised the ski tour. In addition to skiing with the young people, the volunteers were able to share God’s love with them.

In Szentendre, where the team organises summer camps and Rock Solid programs during the year, they also host a special teen program geared toward non-believers. There is also a time to meet their parents and get to know them better. Through these programs, the volunteers invite the young people and parents to church.

One particular family was having a very difficult time in life and didn’t want to hear anything about God. But, as their children continued attending the Rock Solid Club, they kept bringing them to the program.  After a while they showed up not just at the teenager program but on one of the Sunday services in the church, where they felt God’s presence and understood something about His love. The following weeks they came to church with their children and a couple of weeks ago they accepted Christ as their Saviour.

How encouraging it is to see families turn to Christ through their children’s obedience. Thank you for your ongoing prayers and financial support which make ministries like these possible.
