Nigeria Reports on Ministry, Requests Prayer

by Bukie Coast-Ufeli, National Director

Youth for Christ in Nigeria is entering a very crucial stage in ministry. They are requesting your prayers more than ever before. Staff in Nigeria realize “We cannot achieve anything until we pray through the process and commit all our ways into the hands of the Almighty!”

Even as they look forward to what God appears to be preparing to do in the nation, they are also giving praise to God for what He has already done: “Glory be unto the Lord, the immortal, the invisible and only Wise God who had been our guide and our strength these past months. We are grateful to God for all of the wonderful people He is using to move the ministry forward.”

The ministry of Youth for Christ in Nigeria, led by a committed and resilient board and national office staff and state coordinators, is forging ahead despite current and constant challenges and limitations. The leadership are especially grateful to God for the ministry partners the Lord is using to bless them. These ministry partners have made it possible for Nigeria to have the funds needed for ministry activities and staff welfare.

Several successful ministry outreaches have taken place during the last several months:

  • Schools outreaches – film show, relationship & sexuality seminars in Akure & Lagos
  • Valentine’s day program in Akure to senior secondary school students where about 50 people made commitment to abstain from premarital sex
  • Club activities and community outreaches in Kaduna, Imo, Lagos and Ondo states

Please continue to pray for Nigeria Youth for Christ about the following:

  1. People involved at every level of ministry
    •  Board members – That the Lord will guide and direct them through every decision and enable them to give the right leadership and support for ministry growth
    • Volunteers – Nigeria need hundreds of volunteers to achieve our strategic plan to reach young people in the nation where the youth population alone is over 100 million
    • Partners – God’s grace upon the partners and successes in all their endeavors
    • Coordinators – Pray for the grace of God and strength upon them as they continue passionately in saving the youths of Nigeria in the states where YFC is working –Delta, Ekiti, Imo, Nasarawa, Lagos, Kaduna, Ondo & Ogun
    • National office staff  Pray for wisdom and grace that the Lord will enable Youth for Christ staff to effectively give leadership to the ministry in Nigeria
  2.  Partnership drive with individuals, churches, other organizations & ministries  for resources to carry out the enormous task ahead
  3. Youths – Commit them into the hands of the Lord
    • That those who we had ministered to in the past will experience genuine salvation, spiritual growth and answers to their questions
    • That they will have divine direction and guidance in every facet of their lives
    • For those who are at the verge of committing abortion – that God will touch their heart
    • That the youths of Nigeria will be saved, that their minds will be renewed and they will have an encounter with Jesus that will transform them
    • For the success of the youth clubs, that those who attend these clubs will be touched by the Lord, and that the Lord will uphold the leaders and work mightily through them
  4. Pioneering work in new cities – Ado-Ekiti, Lafia & Benin; that God will grant open doors of ministry
  5.  Relocation of the National office – That the Lord will grant favour as YFC set out to acquire property, office space, etc, and  that provision will be available for this new venture.
  6. Successful planning & resources to implement upcoming Events/Outreaches:
    • Volunteers & Partners’ Appreciation Dinner , Lagos – March
    • Board Meeting, Akure – March
    • National Board meeting, Abuja – March
