Ministry Report from Sierra Leone

From Abu S. Conteh, National Director

LEADERSHIP TRAINING FOR OPERATION HANNAH

Youth for Christ in Sierra Leone recently conducted training for the steering committees of Operation Hannah in Freetown. The focus was team work and the multiplication of more prayer outlets in their churches.  The women were able to openly share their personal challenges, praying together and encouraging one another.

One attendee, Sister Memunatu, testified how the teachings she had received transformed her life and family.  She shared that she was always challenging her husband and that she was very argumentative, but after counselling, prayer and teaching, her husband is now surprised to see such a changed person.

This training was followed by another discipleship training that attracted 45 women from 4 different churches in Freetown.

Please pray with Sierra Leone as they organise leadership training for all the nation’s leaders of the Operation Hannah movement at the end of this month.

SPORTS MINISTRY UPDATE

A sports ministry in Sierra Leone brings together young boys who love to play soccer.  In addition to coaching them in the sport, staff have the opportunity to help them discover Jesus and also to give them the needed exposure.

In Freetown, the team was able to organise a one day retreat for 24 boys. They were taught various topics ranging from leadership, to dealing with alcohol and other temptations. A screening of the movie ‘Facing the Giants’ proved very useful.
