Asia Pacific Area Report

From Neil O’Boyle, Area Director

PIONEERING CONFERENCE

January saw twelve of our pioneering National Coordinators coming together for training and development to help them shape their ministries and work towards becoming full members of the General Assembly of Youth for Christ.

EMBARK

EMBARK opened its doors to the first round of students going through the 10 month training program that provides them with many skills and qualifications and includes a 6 month field placement within Asia Pacific.

SCHOOL IN JAPAN

Youth for Christ has opened its first school in Gamagori, Japan. All of the school teachers receive salaries allowing them to work part time for the school and part time for Youth for Christ within the community.

SOUTHEAST ASIAN GATHERING

In June, seven national leaders from SE Asia met in Korea to attend a special K-Pop Christian concert to discuss how best to respond to the K-Pop phenomenon around the world. Up to 6 K-Pop Christian bands are now available to Youth for Christ for ministry within Asia Pacific.

FOOTBALL MINISTRY

FOOTBALL CENTRE finally opened its two pitches for business. The centre is a self-sustaining business that helps to fund the ministry of Youth for Christ in this undisclosed nation as well as providing opportunities for ministry. Already over 50 young people have come to faith, and the centre is also making a profit! It is a dream start.
